After breaking his nose, Mbappé will play with a mask at the Euros, confirms federation

After breaking his nose, Mbappé will play with a mask at the Euros, confirms federation;

France star and captain, Kylian Mbappé gave the fans a scare after breaking his nose in the 1-0 victory over Austria, this Monday (17), in the debut of the two teams in group D of the Euro 202.

At the end of the game , the attacker collided with Austrian defender Danso. Immediately, Mbappé had a severe nose bleed, which visibly moved out of place ( the image is strong! ), and was replaced by Giroud.

Surgery ruled out

Taken to a Düsseldorf hospital after the match, Mbappé had a confirmed nose fracture. The French press even speculated that he would undergo surgery and could miss France following the Euros.

Later, however, the French Football Federation (FFF) stated that the player will not operate the facility “in the immediate future” and that he will undergo treatment in the coming days.

“A mask will be made for him so that the number 10 of the France team can prepare for the competition after a period dedicated to treatment,” said the FFF note.

Mbappé goes with Donatello?

Before the note, the player himself hinted, on his social networks, that he would use the protection. “Any ideas for masks?” he asked, in a good-humored tone.

Fans on social media loved it, as Mbappé has “Donatello” as his nickname from his PSG days, a reference to one of the protagonists of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise. And the character wears a mask.

France x Netherlands gains extra weight

The option not to undergo surgery may have to do with the extra importance that the game against the Netherlands, next Friday (21), at 4pm (Brasília time) , gained, given that France’s slim victory over Austria made the Dutch start at the front in group D.

Thus, the French will have to beat the Netherlands to depend only on themselves in the search for leadership of the group, but it is not yet known whether Mbappé will be available.
