Argentine full-back embarks to report to Fortaleza

Fortaleza   has signed 25-year- old right-back Eros Mancuso . The player was bought from Estudiantes in Argentina and will sign a contract until December 2027.

Mancuso has already boarded a flight to Brazil. Estudiantes fans came to say goodbye to him at the airport in Buenos Aires and took pictures. Mancuso will be performing at the club’s headquarters in Pici this Friday (9).

Fortaleza’s board of directors is trying to speed up the delivery of the documentation to the CBF andonmebol, in order to register the full-back for the round of 16 of the  Copa Sudamericana . The first leg against Rosario Central will be ne Cxt Wednesday (14), in Argentina.

The registration deadline is this Friday (9), at the end of the day. If there is no time, he will only be able to play in the quarterfinals, if Leão advances.

Right-back was the main need in Fortaleza’s squad and the main target in this transfer window that opened on July 10 and runs until September 2. The only reinforcement so far was goalkeeper Magrão, signed from Rio Ave-POR, but who arrived to replace Bruno Guimarães as fourth goalkeeper.

Eros Mancuso

Mancuso was trained by Boca Juniors and has been with Estudiantes since 2022. The Argentine market was scoured by Fortaleza’s management, who first made an offer to River Plate for Andrés Herrera, also 25 years old, but the Buenos Aires team declined.

Coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda currently has two players at right back: Tinga, the team captain and starter, who is injured, and Dudu, who has been struggling with physical problems and has not played. In some matches, defender Brítez has been playing as an improvised player in the position.

The club is also looking for a midfielder in the market, as Calebe is currently undergoing muscle strengthening work, with no date set for his return. Pochettino is the first choice in the position, but is currently injured with a muscle injury.

Fortaleza returns to the field next Saturday (10), against Criciúma, for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Series A. The game at Arena Castelão, in the capital of Ceará, will be at 4 pm (Brasília time). Leão is in third place in the classification table, with 39 points in 20 games played.
