Atlético-GO president criticizes differences in revenue and says football is priceless
On CNN Esportes S/A this Sunday (14), Adson Batista, president of Atlético-GO, spoke about the difficulty in competing with other clubs in the Brazilian Championship Series A, and reinforced that the differences in revenue are making Brazilian football “priceless”.
“My revenue for the Série A is around R$100 million. Look, do I have to compete in the same championship? Do I have to discuss with the same agents? […] Brazilian football is priceless . There are players who sometimes don’t have the slightest capacity to demand salaries and the investments needed to sign them, because there is a huge shortage. Brazilian football needs to rethink some things,” commented the director.
Revenue differences
Flamengo , the most valuable club in Brazil , had gross revenue of R$1.3 billion in 2023, the year in which Atlético-GO gained access to the national football elite.
Regarding the Goiás club’s revenue, the president spoke about the challenges of facing the Brazilian giants.
“It [revenue] fluctuates a bit when you are in Series A, you have a higher revenue, that’s natural. When you are in Series B, it decreases. So you have to be prepared and have an internal balance, so you can overcome these ups and downs […] the question is this: it’s the investment power. I can’t make mistakes. If I make a mistake in any situation, you can be sure, my team will be relegated, to Series B”, he explained.
Adson Batista revealed that the club’s payroll is around R$4 million.
“Flamengo has three players who pay my salary, so you can see what it’s like,” he concluded.
