Barcelona fined for racist fan racism during Champions League game

This Thursday (18), Barcelona received notification of a fine due to cases of racism  and vandalism carried out by some fans of the Spanish team.

The cases in question were recorded in the match against PSG, at Parque dos Príncipes, in Paris, on April 10 of this year. The match was valid for the quarter-finals of the  Champions League .

On that occasion,  two barcelona fans were detained for directing Nazi salutes and racist insults at the rival fans . Both were caught on video released by Parisian authorities.

The Catalan club will have to pay the amount of 32 thousand euros (equivalent to R$ 178 thousand at the current price) . The fine includes punishment not only for racist acts, but also for the vandalistic behavior of other fans. Damaged seats were recorded in the visiting sector as well as the use of flares.

The division includes the payment of 25 thousand euros (R$ 139 thousand) for racism, 2 thousand euros (R$ 11 thousand) for the flares and 5 thousand euros (R$ 28 thousand) for damage to the stadium. Barcelona will have 30 days to contact Paris Saint-Germain to resolve the issue determined by the Union of European Football Associations (Uefa).

In addition to dealing with off-field punishments, Barcelona is bitterly eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League .

The Catalan team was eliminated by PSG after the French team’s 4-1 victory in the second leg of the continental tournament . It is worth remembering that in the first game the Spanish had won 3-2, but allowed the advantage to change sides.
