Botafogo right-back undergoes knee surgery and begins recovery

Rafael underwent surgery on his left knee, to help with the recovery of his patella , and is expected to return to  Botafogo  in the coming weeks. The tendency is for him to recover within four weeks.

The procedure was to glue the bone, similar to the one he carried out in 2023, when Alvinegro was missing for more than six months. Rafael suffered a fracture on April 14th, in the same knee he injured last year.

The right-back only played three games this season with the Botafogo shirt. The last time he was on the field was on April 3, against Junior de Barranquilla-COL, in the Copa Libertadores .

Hired in 2021, when the team was still competing in  Series B of the Brazilian Championship , Rafael made 37 appearances for Alvinegro, with his assists and no goals scored. He will retire at the end of the season.

Botafogo returns to the field this Wednesday (22), at 7pm (Brasília time), against  Vitória , at Barradão, in the third phase of the  Copa do Brasil .

In the first game, Glorioso won 1-0, at Nilton Santos, and is playing for a draw
