Brazil’s quest for a third Olympic title in women’s volleyball begins on Monday (29). The Brazilian team faces Kenya at 8 am (Brasília time) in the first round of the group stage of the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Brazilian team, which won two gold medals in 2008 and 2012, won silver in Tokyo and is in Group B in Paris. In addition to Kenya, the team led by José Roberto Guimarães will also face Japan and Poland, tough opponents .
The group stage has two more groups . Group A has France, the United States, China and Serbia, while Group C is made up of Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic.
Format
The volleyball competition format has changed from Tokyo to Paris. The preliminary round will now have three groups of four teams each. In the last edition, there were two groups with six teams.
The two best teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advance to the knockout stages of the competition, which begin with the quarter-finals.
