Brazilian Championship: Atlético-MG beats São Paulo and wins again at Arena MRV
After five setbacks, Atlético-MG won again at Arena MRV , this Thursday (11), beating São Paulo 2-1, in a match valid for the 16th round of the Brasileirão.
All the goals of the match came in the first half. Galo scored with Vargas and Paulinho. Lucas Moura scored the goal for the São Paulo team, tying the match before Paulinho broke the tie in injury time.
Alan Franco is sent off and harms São Paulo
In the second half, with the score already at 2-1 for the home team, São Paulo’s Alan Franco was sent off for a tackle on Otávio. Referee Marcelo de Lima Henrique initially showed a yellow card, but was called by VAR and changed his mind.
With the victory, Atlético-MG reaches 21 points and returns to the first half of the table, in 10th place, five points behind the G6. In the next round, they visit Juventude , on Tuesday (16), at Alfredo Jaconi.
Sao Paulo loses winning streak
São Paulo, in turn, sees its streak of four consecutive victories come to an end. With this, it leaves the G4 and drops to fifth place, with 27 points, three behind Bahia, in fourth place.
