Brazilian volleyball team misses out on an Olympic final again after 20 years

The women’s team’s defeat to the United States left Brazilian volleyball out of an Olympic final. This feat had not happened since the 2000 Sydney Olympics , when both the men’s and women’s teams were out of the finals.

This Thursday (8), the Brazilians lost 3-2 in the semifinals and will go in search of bronze in Paris 2024. In the men’s competition, the disappointment was greater. Brazil also fell to the North Americans, but in the quarterfinals

Brazil in the Olympic finals

Since Athens 2004, Brazil has always been in a gold medal match. Since then, there have been four finals and two titles for the men’s team, and three finals and two gold medals for the women’s team.

In the history of the Olympics, Brazil has never won two gold medals with its teams in the same edition . This feat was close to being achieved in the 2008 and 2012 editions.
