Carille admits pressure amid Santos’ negative phase
Coach Fábio Carille admitted to experiencing a moment of pressure amid Santos’ negative phase in this Series B of the Brazilian Championship. After the 1-0 defeat to Operário, this Friday (14), the club’s fourth consecutive defeat, the coach commented on his situation in the role.
Briefly, the coach admitted concern, but highlighted the good relationship with the club’s management. “Football is about results, I know that. I have a very close board of directors, they know what we do. But we know that football is about results, there is no other way,” he said.
Santos’ bad campaign in this Series B follows a positive moment for the team in Paulistão, where they finished runner-up . The drop in performance, according to Carille, is linked to injuries to important team players, especially in attack.
“The work follows the same line, we lost important attacking players, we brought players who were not supposed to be here, such as Pedrinho, Furch and Guilherme who came out of necessity. We conceded a goal from a dead ball and we know what a dead ball defines. A ball that we can deflect, from the bench I had no vision. We got lost in the first half, I don’t know if it was due to nervousness, we needed to pass with more quality. Second half was in abafa, ball in the opponent’s area with Furch, Gil, Serginho. We went for pressure, but unfortunately without the goal to come away with the point,” he added.
Peixe was unable to impose itself on its opponent at practically any point in the game. Even though they conceded the goal in the first half , Fábio Carille’s team barely managed to move to break through the opponent’s block.
