Conmebol postpones more Grêmio and Internacional games due to floods;
This Tuesday (7) Conmebol (South American Football Confederation), the entity responsible for tournaments in Latin America, informed that other Grêmio and Internacional games in South American tournaments will be postponed.
The suspended matches are: Grêmio x Estudiantes-ARG, for the Copa Libertadores, which would take place on May 15th, and Internacional x Delfin-EQU, for the Sul-Americana, which would take place on May 16th.
The two games would be held in Porto Alegre. The entity informed that the new dates will be announced soon.
“We show solidarity with the entire state of Rio Grande do Sul, expressing our support for the situation they are going through”, Conmebol published in an official note.
Two other games had already been postponed due to the floods. Tricolor would face Huachipato-CHI away from home on Wednesday (8), in the Libertadores, while Colorado had a duel scheduled with Real Tomayapo-BOL, in the Sul-Americana, also away from home.
Also this Tuesday (7), the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) decided to postpone games involving clubs from Rio Grande do Sul, whether as home team or visitor, until May 27th.
According to the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul, so far 90 people have been killed because of the floods, more than 130 are missing. According to Agência Senado, 1 million and 400 thousand people were affected in 397 municipalities.
