Corinthians and Fortaleza do not come out 0-0 at Neo Química Arena

Corinthians and Fortaleza did not come from 0-0 this Saturday (4) in the fifth round of the Brazilian Championship. At the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians and Fortaleza created a lot and had inspired goalkeepers defending their respective goals and keeping the score zero.

The result was not ideal for either team. With just one point won, Fortaleza reached six points and Corinthians five, parking in the middle of the table. On Leão do Pici’s side, there were three miracles from João Ricardo, also counting on the help of the beam. Corinthians, in turn, had Carlos Miguel perform a true miracle in the final minutes of the match.

Corinthians carried out a series of advertising actions in the match against Fortaleza. The total focus was on the team’s new II uniform, entirely black, which is part of the campaign to combat racism in Brazil.

In addition to the blackout tone of the new uniform, the club also promoted other elements that collaborate with the theme. The corner flags were painted entirely black, in addition to the stadium lights going out just before the ball rolled.

While still a Palmeiras player, Breno Lopes was also marked by a lost goal in a Derby against Corinthians, in 2023. On that occasion, with the goal open to score, the attacker caught the ball poorly and ended up shooting into the hands of Cássio.

Now, with Fortaleza, Breno Lopes had the opportunity to leave the negative moment in his career behind. Face to face with the Corinthians goalkeeper, this time, Carlos Miguel, the attacker covered almost the entire attacking field alone and hit the ball out wide.

Save João Ricardo

If on the one hand Breno Lopes missed what would be Fortaleza’s first goal, on the other, João Ricardo saved the team from conceding the first goal. The tricolor goalkeeper performed a miracle in a point-blank shot, at a delicate moment for Leão in the match.

The play started on the left side, with Wesley, who brought it into the middle and crossed into the penalty area perfectly. Free, Raniele went up and tested with force, against João Ricardo, who stretched his arm and avoided the ball in the net.

Weight loss

Midfielder Raniele will be absent from Corinthians in the next Brasileirão game, against Flamengo. Punished with a third yellow card against Fortaleza, he will serve an automatic suspension in next Saturday’s game (11).

In the move, Raniele stopped a counterattack by Leão with a foul on Yago Pikachu. When faced with the warning, the player regretted it effusively.

In sacrifice

The Neo Química Arena was surprised when the fourth referee indicated a substitution at Corinthians. Even when the team was still looking for a goal, coach António Oliveira removed striker Gustavo Mosquito and added full-back Matheuzinho.

The explanation is given by the precondition of the attacking player. According to Corinthians communication, Mosquito spent the day with a virus and went to the game “on sacrifice”, far from his normal playing conditions.

On the beam!

In a beautiful play worked by Corinthians on the left side, Hugo came close to scoring the first black and white goal in the match. Face to face with João Ricardo, the left-back ended up hitting the post.

The play featured great protagonism from Rodrigo Garro, the main name in the black and white midfield in the match. With space, he left Hugo face to face with the opposing goalkeeper, who still saved the shot before the ball exploded onto the post.

Monumental

In a second half with better performance from Fortaleza, goalkeeper Carlos Miguel needed to work. The Corinthians goalkeeper performed a true miracle, in a one-on-one move with Moisés, when the match was heading towards the final minutes.

Moisés led from the left side and dribbled in the best “futsal” style, leaving two markers behind and coming face to face with Carlos Miguel. He hit hard, but saw the Corinthians goalkeeper perform a miracle from close range.
