Cruzeiro’s starting striker suffers injury and is out; see details

Cruzeiro reported on Tuesday (23) that striker Cruzeiro Veron underwent medical examinations, which diagnosed a muscle injury in his left thigh. As a result, the youngster will be out of the match against Juventude, at 7 pm (Brasília time) this Wednesday (23). The match will be valid for the 19th round of the Brazilian Serie A.

“ Cruzeiro informs that the athlete Gabriel Veron underwent tests that diagnosed a muscle injury in his left thigh. The indication for the case is conservative treatment, which has already been initiated by the club’s Health and Performance Department,” Cruzeiro reported on social media.

This is not Gabriel Veron’s first injury at Cruzeiro . In January of this year, the striker suffered a serious injury to his right foot, underwent surgery and was out of action for more than three months. He only made his debut for Raposa in April, against Alianza, in the Copa Sudamericana.

Gabriel Veron was enjoying a great moment with Cruzeiro. In the last eight matches he played, the forward scored four goals and provided one assist. This was the highest scoring performance of the 21-year-old’s career, who is on loan from Porto-POR until the end of this year.

For the match against Juventude, coach Fernando Seabra will need to make changes to the starting lineup. Without Veron , the Celeste commander should start the match with Lautaro Diaz or Kaio Jorge. In the midfield, Álvaro Barreal, suspended, should give way to Vitinho or Matheus Henrique.
