Neymar’s teammate during his Barcelona days, Ivan Rakitic was full of praise for the Brazilian. In a podcast, the Croatian revealed that the Brazilian national team star is his favorite, above even Lionel Messi.
“I’m Neymar ‘s biggest fan , he’ll always be on my team. I love that guy,” he stated.
The midfielder played with the Brazilian in the golden years of the MSN trio , between 2014 and 2017. Asked about Lionel Messi , Rakitic reinforced his preference for Neymar.
“He is my favorite player. But of course Messi is the best player in the history of football”, he highlighted.
Victorious passage
Alongside Neymar, Rakitic won the Champions League, Club World Cup, Copa del Rey and LALIGA. The Croatian highlighted the difference between the former number 11 and the others.
“He makes a difference. He makes football look like dancing. This happiness… That’s why I posted a message on Instagram telling him to never lose his joy”, he added.
As for the personal side, Rakitic also praised the Brazilian. “I had the opportunity to play with some of the biggest stars in football. He’s different,” he began.
“He is so kind, so open. I’m very happy that he had the career he had. I think he still has a lot of things to do”, he concluded.
Current moment
Away from Spanish football, Neymar and Rakitic play in Saudi Arabia. The Croatian is a player for Al-Shabab, with whom he signed after parting ways with Sevilla.
On the other hand, the Brazilian arrived at Al-Hilal , after leaving PSG, and continues to recover from injury.
