Former Corinthians, Romarinho confirms departure from Al-Ittihad and will be free on the market;

Striker Romarinho , from Al-Ittihad, in Saudi Arabia, will say goodbye to the club this Thursday (23), in the match against Dhamk, in the local championship. The player, who will not have his contract renewed, will be free on the market from July.

The farewell was confirmed by Al-Ittihad in a post on social media, the first official statement about the departure. In addition to Romarinho, experienced goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, formerly of Grêmio, will leave Saudi football at the end of the season.

Romarinho played for Corinthians between 2012 and 2014 and created a strong identification with the fans. In addition to his reputation as a tormentor of rival Palmeiras, the player scored one of the most important goals in Timão’s history, in the first game of the Libertadores final, against Boca Juniors .

There is no information regarding Romarinho’s possible return to Parque São Jorge . Even without a club, the player arouses strong interest from other teams in Saudi Arabia, willing to keep him in the country.

It is worth noting that Corinthians hired, at the beginning of the year, an old teammate of Romarinho in Arab football. Midfielder Igor Coronado signed with Timão in February and is part of the squad led by António Oliveira.
