Goiás suffers, but eliminates Cuiabá on penalties and advances in the Copa do Brasil;

Goiás beat Cuiabá on Thursday night (23) 3-1 on penalties, at Arena Pantanal, and qualified for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. In normal time, the home team had won 1-0, with a goal from defender Bruno Alves.

With the score 1-1 on aggregate, the decision went to penalties and the team from Goiás won. Goalkeeper Tadeu saved three shots and helped the emerald team advance in the competition.

With the classification, Goiás guaranteed R$3.4 million in prize money.

The team from Goiás returns to the field next Monday (27), against Avaí, in Series B of the Brazilian Championship. Cuiabá will face Lanús next Wednesday (29), in the Copa Sudamericana.
