After two seasons without a title, Inter Milan once again became Italian champions in Serie A 2023-24, their 20th trophy in the league. And in great style: beating great rival Milan, this Monday (22), 2-1, at the San Siro.
The cry of “they are champions” comes five rounds in advance, since, with the victory , Milan itself can no longer catch up with the Nerazzurri — the difference reached 17 points, with 15 still up for grabs (see the table at the end of the note).
The goals of the match were scored by defender Acerbi, in the 17th minute of the first half, and by striker Marcos Thuram, in the 3rd minute of the final stage. Milan scored a discount in the 34th minute, with Tomori, and threatened pressure, but were unable to equalize.
Regrettable scenes
In the end, the rivals still staged some regrettable scenes, with three expulsions — Theo Hernández and Calabria, for Milan, and Dumfries, for Inter.
The latest national title for the Nerazzurri, led by Simone Inzaghi, is their first since the 2020-21 season. Milan and Napoli won the following editions.
