President of Santos explains notification sent to Cruzeiro by Kaio Jorge
This Friday morning (21), Marcelo Teixeira, president of Santos, provided clarifications regarding the notification sent to Cruzeiro and Juventus, from Italy, for the purchase of striker Kaio Jorge. The Santos leader exempted the fox from responsibilities and justified the decision taken by Peixe’s legal department.
Kaio Jorge was sold by Santos to the Italian club in August 2021 for 3 million euros. The sales contract expressly contains a preference clause for Santos, in the event of any negotiation . In this way, the club would need to be notified if Juventus accepted a proposal – which happened in the case of Cruzeiro.
“Santos communicated to Juventus and Cruzeiro. At first, Juventus were cold. Did not recognize what is in the contract. When we were working out how to take further initiatives, we spoke with the player’s representative. We talked about the possibility of signing the player for the season. Juventus understood, provoked twice, that they should respect and include details that had not been included in the first demonstrations”, opened Marcelo Teixeira.
The president of Santos also criticized the previous administrations of Peixe for drafting the sales contract . Marcelo Teixeira also made it clear that Alvinegro is studying possibilities for possible gains in the case.
“In the other document, they detailed the negotiations involving Kaio Jorge and Cruzeiro. Cruzeiro has nothing to do with this. The contract is signed between Santos and Juventus. With the preference, Santos must have given advance notice. Unfortunately, in a poorly drawn up contract, we should have a fine in this contract. Santos does not have this fine. But, even so, Santos is studying the possibility of losses and damages.”
Juventus officially announced on its website the negotiation of the athlete to the Brazilian club on June 11, 2024. Simultaneously, the Minas Gerais club confirmed the transaction through official channels.
