Santos paid almost R$100 million in debts in the first half of 2024
The new Santos board, led by president Marcelo Teixeira , paid off around R$90 million in debts in the first half of this year. The figures were released by the São Paulo club this Tuesday (23).
According to Santos , just to end transfer penalties, the club paid off more than R$34 million in debts this year. They involved coach Fábian Bustos , one of his assistants and the Russian club Krasnodar, which demanded payment of debt for the negotiation of midfielder Christian Cueva.
Santos also reports that it inherited several debts due to the acquisition of economic rights of players, such as Jean Lucas, Carabajal, Dodô, João Lucas, Joaquim and Vinicius Zanocelo. In total, R$27,795,500.00 was paid off.
The São Paulo club also paid off R$8 million in bank loan debts (there are still balances to be paid). Santos also made several legal agreements, with lawsuits totaling R$8,813,600.00.
Finally, the current management had to settle payroll and image rights obligations, totaling R$10,941,400.00.
With few resources due to the absence in the Copa do Brasil and the relegation to Série B, Santos bet on the search for players without contracts to form the team in search of a return to the elite of Brazilian football.
