Sao Paulo’s Alisson has a fractured ankle and will undergo surgery
São Paulo midfielder Alisson fractured his right ankle in the match against Grêmio, on Wednesday night (17), at Morumbis. The player underwent tests, which confirmed the serious injury.
The midfielder left the field after receiving medical attention and went to the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. Alisson will undergo surgery this Thursday (18). In an official statement, São Paulo confirmed the information and expressed solidarity with the player.
“Alisson underwent tests tonight and was diagnosed wunith a fracture in his right ankle. The athlete will dergo surgery this Thursday (18). We are with you, Alisson. Strength and good recovery!”, published Tricolor.
Sources heard by CNN compared the injury to the one suffered by defender Arboleda, on his ankle, in June 2022, in a match against Palmeiras.
At the time, Arboleda underwent surgery and only returned to action the following year. Despite being called up, he did not play for the Ecuadorian national team at the World Cup in Qatar.
