This Wednesday (3), Vasco used the strength of São Januário to win 2-0 and dominate Fortaleza , which had not lost in four games, in the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship.
The result was also made easier by the expulsion of Hércules, from Leão do Pici, in the 39th minute of the first half, after making a strong tackle on Adson and preventing a clear chance at goal.
Shortly after, at 47′, Mateus Carvalho took advantage of a rebound after David’s run and hit a powerful cross that left goalkeeper João Ricardo with no chance of defending.
In the second half, Vasco started to create chances again and scored the second goal with its most effective duo: Lucas Piton took a corner kick to Pablo Vegetti’s head, who scored his sixth goal in the Brasileirão, and guaranteed the party at São Januário.
Payet feels injured early in the game
Despite the joy at the end, Vasco fans were apprehensive at the start of the match at São Januário.
Back in the starting line-up after a long period out injured, Frenchman Dimitri Payet felt a muscle injury again after just 13 minutes of play and was replaced by youngster JP, who played a good match.
