Vini Jr. celebrates Brazil’s victory in the Copa América and criticizes Conmebol
Vinícius Júnior was the face of the Brazilian team in the 4-1 victory over Paraguay, this Friday (28). In his best game with the Brazil shirt, the Real Madrid-ESP striker scored two goals at the Allegiant Stadium, in Las Vegas, in the United States, and sent Brazil through to the quarter-finals of the Copa América.
And Vini admitted that he can improve with the yellow jersey.
“I say that I never play for myself, I play for my team. I always try to do my best, but I know that, given my level, I can improve a lot for the national team,” said Vini Jr. as he left the pitch, during the official broadcast.
He took the opportunity to criticize the arbitration and Conmebol (South American Football Confederation), the entity that organizes the competition. Referee Piero Maza, from Chile, was criticized by the Brazilians, who saw some violent moves from the Paraguayans. Cubas was expelled. There is also internal criticism of Conmebol’s conduct in cases of racism in football, in national team and club matches.
“Copa América is always complicated, because of the fields, because of the refereeing. The referee always [marks] everything backwards. Because of the way Conmebol treats us, but we can’t talk, whenever we talk, Conmebol doesn’t like it”, said Vini Jr.
Brazil returns to the field next Tuesday (2), to face Colombia and needs to win to come out as first in Group D. A draw will guarantee a place as second, but even a defeat should be enough, as Costa Rica would need to improve its goal difference by beating Paraguay in the other game that closes the group stage.
