Majority shareholder of Real Valladolid, Ronaldo has decided not to sell his shares in the Spanish club. This Wednesday (7), Jorge Santiago, spokesman for the institution, revealed that the Phenomenon has gone back on his decision to sell the club.
“Ronaldo Nazário will not sell the club. It is true that he has received offers that have led him to consider doing so, but the president considers that none of them meet the requirements that would make him give up his main objective when he acquired the entity, which is nothing more than leaving a recognizable legacy when he leaves,” said Jorge Santiago.
Manager of Valladolid for six years , Ronaldo has been the target of several protests from fans in recent months . However, even with the team’s return to LaLiga, the businessman decided to reject all the offers received to hand over the club’s management.
Ronaldo signaled sale in April
On April 29 of this year, minutes after selling Cruzeiro’s shares to Pedro Lourenço, Ronaldo said that “Valladolid is next” . At the time, the former player showed dissatisfaction with the pressure from the Spanish fans and did not hesitate about the future of the pucela team.
“My answer will be short: Valladolid is next. (…) I’m going to take this little bit of my life on sabbatical,” Ronaldo said that day.
Valladolid’s debt with LaLiga
According to Jorge Santiago, Real Valladolid will need to settle financial issues related to the 2022/2023 season with LaLiga. The payment of debts should directly affect the salary cap for the Spanish Championship in 2024/2025.
The amounts will be paid for out of Ronaldo’s own pocket, according to the club’s spokesperson.
Valladolid’s debut in LaLiga
In their return to the Spanish football elite, Real Valladolid will make their LaLiga debut against Espanyol, in Valladolid. The teams will face each other on Monday (19), at 2 pm (Brasília time).
