With terminal cancer, coach wins honor from Italian club; look;

Former Sampdoria coach and terminally ill cancer, Swede Sven-Göran Eriksson received a tribute from the club this Sunday (5), in the team’s match against Reggiana, in the Italian second division.

Before the ball rolled at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, Eriksson entered the field accompanied by Roberto Mancini, Samp’s idol , and received affection from the fans.

Eriksson worked at Sampdoria between 1992 and 1997, leading the club to the Italian Cup title in 1994. The coach also coached the England national team and clubs such as Benfica, Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio, among others.

In January, the 76-year-old Swede revealed that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and that, “at best”, he had another year to live.

The coach also revealed that he ended his football career without fulfilling a dream: coaching Liverpool. In March, the English club invited him to lead the team in a celebratory game between the legends of Liverpool against the legends of Ajax.
